trouble with perl ImageMagick

i'm seting up a new webserver and im getting errors from perl when i run a script with " use Image::Magick; ". here are the errors:

Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/auto/Image/Magick/Magick.so' for module Image::Magick: libdpstk.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perl/5.6.1/DynaLoader.pm line 202.
at ./fluxadmin.cgi line 145
Compilation failed in require at ./fluxadmin.cgi line 145.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./fluxadmin.cgi line 145.

i've installed imagemagick and perlmagick with apt and the files mentioned in the errors are present. Not sure how to proceed.
thanks in advance

well ok so i poked around and it seems that "ImageMagick" and "perlmagick" from apt have quite a few bugs. So i installed ImageMagick from source, and now it works. I did have to pass the following options to ./configure for compile to work but it seems like the right thing to do anyway.

--enable-shared=yes --enable-static=no

what are the possible consequences of installing from source via configure;make;make install method?
should i be making my own .deb first?
thanks
