Trouble with openldap-2.4.23 and Berkely DB on Redhat Linux installation
I am attempting to install openldap-2.4.23 using the configure command and receiving the following error:
checking for db.h... yes
checking for Berkeley DB major version in db.h... 4
checking for Berkeley DB minor version in db.h... 3
checking if Berkeley DB version supported by BDB/HDB backends... no
configure: error: BerkeleyDB version incompatible with BDB/HDB backends
Does anyone know what the correct Berkeley DB version should be? TIA
What is your redhat version?
The error means that you have to upgrade your Berkeley DB (db4) package to a newer version According to this you need at least version 4.4.
Thanks for your reply. Our Red hat version is 5. Linux dr3zlvgov001 2.6.18-274.17.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 4 22:45:44 EST 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

You can follow the instructions here to install a newer db4 and build openldap against it. Mind that before running "make" to compile openldap, you have to run "make depend" (it's missing in the above link).
