Trouble with Gentoo...

hi,

Ive been trying to install Gentoo Linux into my amd64 machine for the past couple of days, I keep getting this same error whenever I reach this one area. When after mounting proc I have to chroot into my new enviroment and when I issue the "chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash"
command i get "chroot: cannot run command '/bin/bash' : Exec format error" ??
I have done this process a couple of times trying different packages it I still have this trouble? any suggestions?
