I am trying to set a transparent schema in konsole. I went into configure konsole, chose the settings that I wanted, then saved the schema.
When I closed the session and later reopened it, the original schema appeared.
I tried saving my custom settings again, but had the same problem when I reopened konsole. Then I went looking for the location of the saved schemas.
I thought that I had found them in /home/robert/.kde/....., so I deleted the schemas that I didn't want. Later, when I rebooted, two dialog boxes came up.
One said,
"The Composite Manager Crashed Twice within a minute and is therefore disabled for this session".
The other said,
"Composite Extension not found"
You must use XOrg>/= 6.8 for translucency and shadows to work.
Additionally, you need to add a section to your X config file:
Section "Extensions
Option "Composite" "Enable"
End Section
I am using xorg-6.8.2. I added the suggested "Section" at the end of my
xorg.conf, but this just caused my mouse to fail and the system would not boot. I removed the lines from xorg.conf, now I can boot.
Can anyone tell me, 1, How to fix this problem ?
2, How to set a permanent schema in konsole?
You need to select the schema you want to default to, check "Set as default schema" then click apply or OK
{edit: this is in reference to setting the default schema in konsole}
As far as getting alpha blending (composite) support in KDE, I'm not sure on that when it comes to an upgrade; I tried upgrading to xorg, could not get xinerama nor alpha blending to work in an upgraded KDE, so I downgraded back to X(not)Free86. On Suse 9.2 and 9.3 it works out of the box.
I have tried to "Save as Default". When I close konsole, then reopen it, the "Black on Light Yellow" schema appears again. I have saved schema and session, transparency is set, but when I close/reopen transparency is gone again.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
As for the X problem, it doesn't seem to affect anything that I do. It only happens at login, and that doesn't occur very often. I believe I'll live with it for now.
