trouble w/ libtool (i think) compiling rhythmbox

i'm trying to compile and install an itunes-like program called rhythmbox. but when i do a "make" it seems to hang on this:

"libtool: link: cannot find the library `..//usr/lib/pkgconfig/gdk-pixbuf/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.la'"

i have libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.la in /usr/lib/pkgconfig/lib. how do i get make to see it?

i made a directory "/usr/lib/pkgconfig/gdk-pixbuf" and put a sym-link to libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.la in it, but that doesn't work.

oh yeah, i'm running fedora.

/usr/lib/pkgconfig/lib is a strange place for a .la file. they're normally in /usr/lib, along with the .so files. (note that i don't use fedora - they could be putting things in odd places)

try it with the files in /usr/lib, and redo ./configure, checking the output to make sure it's finding the pixbuf library.

make still doesn't see it... is there any option that i could use to just point to the file?
