configure: error: zlib library not found
If you have zlib already installed, see config.log for details on the
failure. It is possible the compiler isn't looking in the proper directory.
Use --without-zlib to disable zlib support.
[root@localhost postgresql-8.4.4]# gmake
You need to run the 'configure' program first. See the file
'INSTALL' for installation instructions.
gmake: *** [all] Error 1
Please, let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions!!!

p.s. I am a noob so I need it dumbed down a but!

Thank you very much!!

Unless you have VERY specific needs that aren't part of the
normal builds, why don't you just go for:

http://www.postgresql.org/download/linux#yum

Cheers,
