Trouble installing madwifi on Toshiba Satellite C655 running Linux Mint 10

I have recently installed Linux Mint 10 on my Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop. Under Windows, I have an Atheros wireless driver for wifi. I have tried to install madwifi to be able to connect to the internet. However, I have gotten the following error messages:

~/Downloads/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.4 $ make
./kernelversion.c:13: fatal error: linux/utsrelease.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
Makefile.inc:81: *** Cannot detect kernel version - please check compiler and KERNELPATH. Stop.

The instructions tell me that I might have to specify the location of the kernel build tree. When I try that, I get:

~/Downloads/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.4 $ make KERNELPATH=/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.35-22-generic
./kernelversion.c:13: fatal error: linux/utsrelease.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
Makefile.inc:81: *** Cannot detect kernel version - please check compiler and KERNELPATH. Stop.

I'm not sure what to do now to install this driver. Any suggestions are welcome.

I tried the first link, and was unable to download the file.
When I tried the second link, I followed the instructions, but got this error message:

~/Downloads/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.4 $ sudo ./configure
sudo: ./configure: command not found

You should use sudo only to make install

Try just

Code:
~/Downloads/madwifi/madwifi-0.9.4 $ ./configure
and if the error is still displaying, check that you have the file configure in the current directory.

If not, you should try to re-extract madwifi-0.9.4.

I wasn't able to install madwifi. However, I have managed to install the ath9k driver. However, when I click the connection icon on the bottom bar, my wifi network doesn't come up. I also am unable to connect when I put the wifi info into 'connect to hidden wireless network'. What should I do?

I tried, it said something about not being able to find the network. I can't remember, because I'm doing this on Windows for lack of internet connection on linux.

I'm able to connect with an ethernet cable, but when I click on "Wireless Networks", my network doesn't come up.
