Trouble installing afterstep software

Hi all

I have installed Afterstep 1.8.11 windowmanager on redhat 8 and am trying to install the tools that go with it. I downloaded astools-2003.2.19-25.i586.rpm from rpmfind.net but when I try to install it tells
me that I dont have (failed dependency) libpthread.so.0(GLIBC 2.3.2). I downloaded glibc 2.3.2 and compiled, and then added the directory with the libpthread.so to LD_LIBRARY_PATH. But when I ran RPM again it made the same complaint. Since the appropriate shared object is on my system, I did an rpm install with the --nodeps options, but the software wont start.

Has anyone encountered anything like this before when dealing with afterstep?

Thank you in advance

mike
