trouble compiling wine

Hello.
I'm attempting to install the lastest version of wine(20020710). I managed to get through configure and make depend, but when I make I get this error.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

make: *** [dlls] Error 2LD_LIBRARY_PATH="../../library:../../unicode:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" ../../tools/wrc/wrc -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -o kernel.res -r kernel.rc

kernel.rc:1: Oops, segment violation
make[2]: *** [kernel.res] Aborted
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/dack_x/wine-20020710/dlls/kernel'
make[1]: *** [kernel] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dack_x/wine-20020710/dlls'
make: *** [dlls] Error 2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried installing using wineinstall and got this same error. What do I need to do to precede?
I have gcc3.1 and kernel-2.4.9(vanilla) on a RedHat7.2 distro.
Thank you.

nevermind

Nevermind.
Due to numerous frustrations I reinstalled RedHat Linux 7.2 again. I think it had something to do with me installing gcc3.1 in my previous Linux installation. My RedHat7.2 comes with gcc2.96. gcc2.96 is what I used to upgrade the kernel, and gcc3.1 is what I used to compile wine in the previous installation. I used gcc9.6 on both the kernel upgrade and wine this time. Anyway wine installed without any problems this time. It's probably safe to delete this thread, admin.
Thanks.
