Tried wicd instead of NM, but got d-bus error

On Fedora 12, I installed wicd from source per the instructions found on Fedora Forum, and the installation seemed to go without problem (once I remembered to use sudo, that is). I disabled NetworkManager's automatic startup and enabled that of wicd, and restarted. Then I got this error when it tried to start:
Quote:
Could not connect to wicd's D-Bus interface. Check the wicd log for details.
Quote:
The wicd daemon has shut down. The UI will not function properly until it is restarted.
I've checked in the three locations listed in WHEREAREMYFILES, but I can't find the wicd log anywhere. Where is it? And also, what's the deal here?

(Note: I can connect fine with NetworkManager and ethernet. NM just can't connect to the encrypted wireless (it's WPA-PSK + TKIP), which is why I tried wicd. I have the correct password but it just doesn't work so I'm trying wicd instead which doesn't even start currently.)

EDIT: It'd be nice if I could report my own thread so I could get it moved to Wireless Networking. I somehow missed that forum when I looked down the list...

EDIT(2): This problem was solved. I just had to run wicd as root.

You should be able to by using the Report button in the lower right corner of your post.

This may, or may not, be a problem depending on what part of wicd your running as root. The wicd deamon should be run as root since it needs access to the wireless card. However, the wicd client should be runnable as a normal user.
