Trashed emails don't appear in trash folder

When I trash a email it was always listed in the trash folder. Since Jan 12 they no longer show up there. Jan 12 is the latest email in trash so something happened after that date. Also, Spamassassin quit working and I am getting a lot of obvious spam now that I didn't used to get. As best as I can recall I haven't changed anything. I've done my usual Mandriva updates. Could I have updated evolution or spamassassin and caused this?

It's possible that your email software has a setting to choose whether deleted emails go into the trash or are really deleted. Get into your email software's configuration and look for something like that.

doh! I had some lingering search letters in the trash search field. I still don't know why I suddenly started to get a lot of junk mail. Spamassassin used to be very effective. I am going to try to upgrade it and reinstall the filter.
