transcode configure error

When trying to compile transcode on my fedora fc4, im getting this error:
Code:
checking for pkgconfig support for lame... no
checking how to determine LAME_CFLAGS... default
checking how to determine LAME_LIBS... default
checking for lame_init in -lmp3lame... yes
checking lame/lame.h usability... yes
checking lame/lame.h presence... yes
checking for lame/lame.h... yes
checking lame version... ./configure: line 33504: test: -lt: unary operator expe
cted

ERROR: option '--enable-lame' failed: cannot compile and run a test program
lame.h can be found in the following packages:
  lame http://www.mp3dev.org/
I used to have lame installed from the ready made rpm, but then i got a different error:
ERROR: option '--enable-lame' failed: cannot link against libmp3lame libmp3lame can be found in the following packages: lame"
I solved that by uninstalling the rpm and installing the lame CVS, but now im stuck on this lame.h error...

Im also getting this error:
Code:
ERROR: option '--enable-libdvdread' failed: cannot link against libdvdread
libdvdread can be found in the following packages:
  libdvdread http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/downloads.shtml
Needless to say, i have the libdvdread-0.9.4-8cvs.2.fc4 rpm installed...

Any ideas? Ive had other configure errors that ive been able to solve through massive googling, but for some reason, was unable to find a solution to this lame.h problem...

Just a note - seems like installing the dvdread from the source file solved the 2nd error, but im still stuck on the lame.h problem...

Ok, i seem to have worked it out (just in case anyone else comes across this problem), by installing both lame AND lame-devel
