totem over ssh only audio

I am having a strange problem.

file.avi is in host:/

host:/ is mounted in client:/ via sftp on evolution

while sitting on client: double clicking on file.avi opens Totem which starts to stream and only shows a blank screen (audio is fine).

Copying file.avi to client:/ and then playing it on totem is fine, so it is not a gstreamer issue. I would doubt this is bandwidth as it should just buffer longer, this is over a wireless network. I'm clueless... Any help is more than welcome

Thanks,

R.

Edit: just to add some info, looking at "properties" on evolution, the remote file shows unknown duration in the audio/video tab, while the local copy shows the right duration. Also evolution shows generic thumbnails on the remote copy, but I guess that's a permissions issue.

This is rather puzzling. Does it work if you try mounting host:/ using sshfs instead?

I can't believe I didn't think of trying that... Thanks! with sshfs the video plays fine... I am really puzzled now, I doubt it is a permissions issue. Could this be a bandwidth issue on over sftp?
