totem full screen

Does anyone know a way of making the Totem movie player come up in full screen by default, each time a movie is played?

I did go onto the Gnome Totem site, but no forum is apparent. Similarly, Google search produces no useful results.

You could just launch totem from the command line using the --fullscreen option. I'm assuming you have a series of videos to play - just write a script to play each video and add the --fullscreen option at the end of each line of the script.

Thanks. I actually wanted Totem to open any movie I clicked on from my file manager (Nautilus) in fullscreen mode by default. However, your suggestion gave me an idea and it's worked.

What I have done is look at the Properties of a typical movie (like a WMV for instance) and select the "Open with" tab, and "Added" another application to open all files of that type with. Rather than select an application from the list presented, I selected "use a custom command" and typed in "Totem --fullscreen". This allows the movie, and all movies of that file type, to be opened by double-clicking on its icon. However, because it is following the custom command, it will open them in Totem but with the full screen option switched on.

So, thanks for the idea of using the --fullscreen switch!

I figured so but the best I could figure is my suggestion. I'm glad you found a way to make it work for you!

Open all totem associated files in fullscreen mode

I know this question is quite old but the solutions you gave made me think another way :
In the file:
/usr/share/applications/totem.desktop

Replace the line
Exec=totem %U
With :
Exec=totem --fullscreen %U

Then every file type associated with totem will open in fullscreen mode.

Note : audio file, if they are associated with totem, will also open fullscreen...

Thank you for your response. In the last two years I have since switched to MPlayer! However this thread will still come up in a relevant search, so may be helpful to another soul having a "Totem fullscreen" problem.
