Totem and VLC crash and will not run

I am running Fedora Core 3. I have installed Totem and ViodeLan (VLC) in attempts to watch DVD's. Additionally, I have installed libdvdcss and all of the VideoLan dependencies. Here are the problems:

1. Totem crashes when I try to start it. The error says:
The Application "totem" has quit unexpectedly.
You can inform the developers of what happened to help them fix it. Or you can restart the application right now.

2. I can start VLC. When I attempt to open DVD or open DVD w/ menues, a blank video screen will appear and VLC will play the menu sounds. If I click anywhere on the screen or on the VLC menu, VLC crashes.

I appreciate your help.

Open them in a terminal and see what the output says.

I get the same error message when I run totem from the terminal:
The Application "totem" has quit unexpectedly.

VLC gives me this at the terminal:
VLC media player 0.8.1 Janus
Segmentation fault

Here are more errors from VLC:

[00000238] a52 decoder: A/52 channels:6 samplerate:48000 bitrate:384000
No accelerated IMDCT transform found
Gdk-ERROR **: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
serial 80 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code 19
Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x56d2)!

Could these be caused by my super cheap video card?
