Tor, Firefox and Google....

I recently got tor and privoxy going and configured my browsers and apps to run though the tor network. All is great though Google now forwards me to www.google.fr ..(France) and every other location lol, and will not let me search because of suspicion of "automated requests" from my network.

I am sure it is an IP thing and google. Curious if there is any work arounds? ..Using duckduckgo for now I guess : )

"We're sorry...

... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now."

I have tried deleting history and cookies in Firefox and no help. Google works fine on other browsers, as well as other computers on my network..Seems to be only the Firefox.

--Ok NVM I guess.. cleaning everything up and restarting pulled it through : )

why not just use the RECOMMENDED "tor-bundle"

manually configuring firefox is a pain in the rear end .
you have to DISABLE java-script and uninstall the video plugins ( no flash support !!!)
and install no-script and configure it to STOP everything
then install the plugin " https Everywhere " and use it

the "tor-button" for firefox and seamonkey is unsupported
and has been for some time

you MUST set firefox to remove all cookies at close ( you CAN BE TRACKED BY THEM !!!! )
you need to make 100% SURE that the "flash FOREVER cookies" are disabled ( linked to dev/null )
Code:
ln -s /dev/null ~/.macromedia/Flash_Player/#SharedObjects
ln -s /dev/null ~/.macromedia/Flash_Player/macromedia.com

this is normal
use a "darknet" search like the duckduckgo for ****.onion
http://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion/
or
tor search "TORCH"
http://xmh57jrzrnw6insl.onion/

or in the "CLEAR NET!!!!!"

Thanks for the info. The issue still persists though only with google + firefox, other browsers and search engines work fine. As far as what you say about configuring firefox, and I am not sure why, but I have had no issue thoroughly configuring every internet application using these services and have tested them well using penetration techniques. Flash works, the only scripts not working seem to be ones I don't want around like pop ups, which I now have configured with ClamAV and Samassassin.

I tired the tor browser and did not like it. I don't care for being restricted to that one browser, or the one button for firefox. I have many apps I am routing through the tor network, not just the browsers.

As far as the cookies suggestion, that is exactly what has seemed to be the issue, and removing them regularly seems to be helping, then again it is only firefox and google...

Thanks.

by not using the tor-bundle you need to take a lot MORE care
your REAL !!!!! ip address and mac number are vulnerable to a very simple java script ( a good chunk of the onion sites were taken down from that and a LOT of users got in a lot of legal trouble )

and on "clearnet" sites
the cookies CAN AND DO identify you ( not just your ip but YOU if more than one person is using the computer with a 99% accuracy

just "installing tor" will NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep you safe !!!!!!!!!!!!

One can spoof one's MAC with

ifconfig InterfaceName hw ether DesiredMAC

I use a different MAC every connection.

Yeah I read the FAQ on the Torproject website about the bugs, scripts and the tor bundle. I do also change my mac, use repeater routers, and have a load of security up. To top that off I really don't do illegal things I just like privacy. I do have the tor browser and have been experimenting with their different tor components as well.
