I am trying to develop an application that I would like to interact with the user through voice commands. I'm debating on what platform to build it on, Windows or Linux. Windows has tools built in like SAPI 5.1 which seem to be pretty easy to work with.
Does anyone know of reliable, powerful speech tools that I can integrate into a custom application in Linux. I see that there are a few window integrated applications that control a linux windowing system but I need to use it for a custom application.
There is no specific programming language right now but nothing too exotic please (c, c++, pearl, java, etc...)
