Tools for checking flash drives for problems?

I've got files on a usb drive which appear to have corrupted somehow. Their reported size and other properties are correct, but the file contents are garbage. What utilities can be used to check solid state drives for bad sectors or other problems? I've found some for checking internal HDD but that doesn't help I don't think.

fsck is used to test and repair fileststems. badblock is one tool to test block devices. If there are tools that are specific to hardware types, they are probably supplied by the vendor (so probably use/need Windows).

Almost if not all SSD makers offer some program that can be used to test drives. Generally it is a bootable media but in some cases you may have to run it in windows. If the OEM doesn't offer tools then use generic ones like one finds in ultimate boot cd.

As theNbomr points out, filesystem and actual disk is two different tests and concepts.
