Tomsrtbt locks up...

After creating an emergency floppy with tomsrtbt on it, I tried to test it by booting into one of my Win98SE boxes; the first one I tried has an AMD K6 processor, three HDs, and an ATAPI CD, with the IDE controller on the motherboard. During the boot process, tomsrtbt locks up solid after reporting the characteristics for ide0; apparently it's trying to get the data for ide1 but failing to do so.

I then tried another box, an HP Pavilion, and the disk worked perfectly there, bringing me to the login screen as it should.

What I need to know is how to make the disk work on the box where it's failing; any suggestions will be welcome. There's no emergency, yet, but I want to be ready should one arise!

JimKyle, did you ever find an answer to your problem? I also have no emergency but just as a
learning exercise I spent the morning fiddiling around with rescue floppys. I down loaded
tomsrtbt first and used it to boot an old 386 DECpc. It worked fine, if slowly. Then I tried my
toshiba laptop. Locked it up 3 times, apparently probing for hardware. Next I tried something
called RIP-2.3-1440.bin. It wouldn't boot the 386, not enough ram,I think, but did boot the laptop.
Frustrating but fun.

As a follow up to the posts above, I just used RIP-2.3-1440.bin to mount a linux partition
and rerun lilo ( ended up switching to grub) to recover a dual boot win98/mdk9.1 system
I have on an old pentium 2 ToughBook. This rescue floppy will make a valuable addition
to your tool chest.
