I am looking for a free or open-source piece of software that, after some set amount of time (e.g., 19 minutes) or at some set time (e.g., 15:00), will pop up a box with a specified message in it (e.g., "Pick up daughter.")
I'd prefer something lightweight--i.e., not something that is a part of OpenOffice or a similar gargantuan application.
Thanks. However, I'm looking for something more complex. What I have in mind now is a calendar-like GUI which, when you click on a date and time, allows you the option to set an event. And what if I wish to make the event happen every day at 16:30 or every Tuesday at 9:00? Setting a cron job is clumsy.
Sure, it's easy--unless I want to transfer these alert settings to five other systems. Also, I still think a calendar-like GUI would greatly simplify things if I want to add 10 or so events.
