Thunderbird news group images don't show

I am running Fedora Core 5 and using Thunderbird 1.5.0.10.

We used to be able to see all images in news messages. Now all we see is a place holder.
A few months ago our network administrators made us login to the Exchange server with the domain name tacked onto the front of the account name. Now we have no end of problems when there is a message that has an image in it. We can see that the images are being downloaded as I can watch the transmit/receive lights flashing. If the image is an attachment the name of the file shows up just below the display window. If I double click on the name of the file Kview will download the image again and show it to me. Is there some way to get these images to show in the view window again?

Dan
