thunderbird in fedor c3

i use thunderbird for my email, i yum installed thunderbird, but it only was version 0.9, and i wanted 1.0 so i deleated the 0.9 folder, downloaded 1.0, unzipped it, and installed it. when i click on the icon now, it wont come up...nothing happens, but in the terminal....if i go to the directry its in, and type ./thunderbird it comes up, new version and there a way to make it come up from clicking the icon...or do i alway have to go to the terminal to open it??

thank you

btw im very new at this....

You may need to create a symlink to thunderbird e.g. on my system, I did
#ln -s /usr/local/thunderbird/thunderbird /usr/bin.
