Thunar for file browser windows, nautilus for desktop, can it be done?

Hello, I would like to keep nautilus for my desktop, but when I open places >> home folder or any other folder on my desktop or anywhere, I want it to use thunar. I was messing around with XFCE and found that Thunar is quicker and does all that I need, so if it's possible, how would I go about doing this without damaging nautilus or thunar or both?
I'm using fedora 10. (and please no lectures about how ifedora 10 is no longer supported like some of you like to do, I don't give a crap. It's still good enough to run whatever apps I want, making an upgrade pointless.)

Thanks, Ben.

Nautilus is a file manager also---the desktop in your case is maybe Gnome?

You can use both Thunar and Nautilus at the same time.

I know. I am not a noob, I mean not having to open thunar from the applications menu to browse to a directory, and opening any directory on the desktop or in the paces menu opens a thunar window instead of a nautilus window.
