this REALY isnt just anouther newb nvidia question !

hey guys, yeah i know what ur thinking, but im NOT going to ask
the usual how to install nvidia question...

a few times, ive noticed games ect not compiling because there is no openGL or an rpm failed dependency "OpenGL"

but, i know openGl is installed, and all my openGL programs run fine...
Glgears, glxinfo, blah blah all the usual.

but it fixes the porblem when i re-run the nvidia install binary,
it says is already installed, do i want to re-install, i say Yes, it verifys the currently installed package and says it has been modified, which may have happened if i tried to manually compile an updated driver, but i have not done such a thing.

this happens every few months, suddenly OpenGL not installed dependency errors pop up all over the place, and my Nvidia drivers have been altered.

what could possible be altering my nvidia GLX ???
cos im the only user of this PC, and it definatly aint me !

The nVidia driver replaces the OpenGL libs with their own, if I remember correctly. So it's quite possible that the other way around is true too - when you install or update games or applications using OpenGL the nVidia OpenGL libs will be over-written.

but should this cause other ./configure scripts to fail on the openGL test ?
if it helps, it seem the condig scripts look for a GlBegin() but im not sure where.

anyway, thanks.
atleast i know whats causing it now.
