"there is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024"

When using fdisk to partition, and this message comes up:
Quote:
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 9729.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)
what can be done about this?

Hi -

If you really had your heart set on dual-booting with OS/2, then I guess you're kind of screwed

PS:
In other words, the warning is benign. You should be able to ignore it

This is one if the early issues with trying to make larger hard drives (for some reason I think it is about 30-40G area). Some old bios won't accept the larger cylinders. Your disk may have a jumper to limit the numbers.

If you have newer hardware and newer OS's don't worry.
