The session is terminted

I use Redhat 3 and ERP system on it , users always report to me their session is terminated ( the error as below ) , then exit he system . I ( with root user ) also encounter the problem , when it happens , it logout me to the shell , I can't find any error in database ( ERP) log , can advise what is the possible reason of the error ? thx

Session terminated, killing shell... ...killed.

It sounds like a timeout setting of some sort.

In the shell itself (sh/bash/ksh) you can set TMOUT variable to exit after a period of inactivity (defined in seconds). To see if that is set after OS login type "echo $TMOUT".

TMOUT would only see the shell as inactive if you entered the database session in a manner that is backgrounded (e.g. mysql... &). It is more likely that you have something within the database set to timeout sessions. (Or possibly your "ERP" application.) Since you don't mention what DB or "ERP" application you're using no one will be able to give you guidance on those.

Another possibility is that you have a cron job running that periodically kills sessions. You should examine your cron setups to see if there is such a job.

thx reply ,

I use Oracle

it seems not timeout , as this problem not happens often , may be 1-2 time per 1 week , sometimes the session was terminated after login for a few minutes . I can't find any cron job related to it .
