text selection question in text editor
I am new in Linux and just installed Slackware on an old machine. Maybe the question is a little backward for you guys. While I move from MS Windows and I like keyboard a lot more than mouse except for web browsing (I think no one will use tab to surf web all the time ). I really missed the Windows style SHIFT + LEFT/RIGHT to select texts in text editor. I did not find such function in either terminal emulator (xterm, rxvt) or text editor (vi, vim). Could you suggest me some lightweight terminal emulator and text editor with such functions. I am a little tired of selecting text using mouse all the time. Thank you!

in vim you can use 'v' to go into visual mode then select text with the arrow keys..
