Text messaging in Skype

The Windows version of Skype has the capability of sending text messages as well as audiovisual conversation. I can't find a similar capability in the Linux version (which says its a beta version). Is it really not there, or have I just not found it?

If you right click on the contact, you can select 'start chat'.

You can set this to be the default double-click action (instead of audio call) in the general options if you prefer.

(at least on the Linux version 2.0.0.68)

I think by text messaging pwabrahams means SMS?

SMS? You'll have to wait until version 2.5 comes out for Linux... Don't hold your breath.

SMS is available in Skype (beta) 2.1.0.47
I have not tried if it works (no credits).

Options >> SMS
