"tetex...latex...tex..." vs Me
I couldnt find the "latex" command in my suse 9.2 system then I installed "tetex". Now I do have "tex" command which can generate "*.dvi" files. But I do have a problem with LaTeX files which is ; "tex" command doesnt recognize LaTeX specific declerations within "*.tex" files... For example" \documentclass{article}" appears as "article" word in the generated pdf. What shall I do?

It sounds very strange. . . I'had SuSE for 1 year and half with no problems at all for tetex
try to install tetex from here ftp://cam.ctan.org/tex-archive/syste...X/3.0/distrib/ It's the latest version Obviously before remove your tetex |
Not sure how SuSE does it - but Fedora/RH split teTeX into several packages.
The main tetex package just has tex - and doesn't compile latex documents. tetex-latex is the package that has /usr/bin/latex and the various standard packages for a LaTeX install. So check and see if a tetex-latex package is available. |
