terminal emulater slow drawing

i use rxvt as my terminal emualter, and just like xterm when i run things that print out msgs a lot it just goes all wired (it refreshes from the top down to the bottom and it takes a while so i can actuay see its doing it slowly, i know that i a regualr terminal its much faster at redrawing the characters, in the framebuffer terminal, its a bit slower, but in the xfree86 its just so noticale and i was wondering if this is because i dident set somthing up right or if it was just becasue i use older hardware (pentium pro 233mhz with 64 mb of swap and 256mb of swap) iv never seen the swap ever used in the xfree86 tho
