terminal AIM
I've only been using Ubuntu for a couple of months, but I'm having a great time doing everything through command- I like using xmms2 through terminal only with no graphical interface... I've been searching for some time now for a similar way to control Gaim. Does anyone know a way to use AIM through the terminal?

I sometimes use centericq because it looks nicer than gaim in my transparent terminals and is more compact. It supports virtually every chat protocol you could want to use, including aim.

I used to use naim - console based AIM. Give that a shot. I haven't used it recently so I don't know if it's still supported or not. Good luck.

thanks, that's kind of what I was looking for. It's not as easy to use as I hoped, but I don't know what I really expected in the first place. If I can get used to that, all I have to find is a mail program and I might be able to dump the GUI. I'm not even going to try to find a web browser for console!
