telnet problem

Hi,
Im trying to telnet a machine in our local intranet. Few times it fails to connect.
The screen just hangs and what ever we type after is just echoed on the terminal.

Trying 10.xxx.xx.xx...
Connected to amand2 (10.xxx.xx.xx).
Escape character is '^]'.

It hangs after displaying this escape character. This problem goes away after restarting the xinetd in that machine but comes again after sometime. ( I found this problem while remotely executing a script using rexec on that machine )

Can anyone please help me fix this problem?

Thanks,
Gobi

hi

i too had this type of issue. i.e if i telnet that pc, it takes long time to ask username and password. finally the problem was routing table in that pc. there were two default gateways for that pc. i removed unwanted one. it worked fine.
i don't know, whether it ll help or not. just for ur info

I tried this, but gateway is proper in that PC. The problem is with xinetd.conf. I just increased the cps and it works fine now.
Thanks..
