Taskbar in Fluxbox/Blackbox, possible?
The topic says it all.. Taskbar that can show more than one task at the time.

Thanks for any replies.

That really doesn't say it all. I don't know which version of Flux or BB you're using, but every version of Flux that I've used (from stable to 0.9.9) has shown multiple apps in the toolbar. If I open an app, it shows up across the entire center of the toolbar. If I open a second app, the center section is split in two halves with each app showing up in one the two halves. If I open a third, it splits in three parts, and so on... That seems to me like it is showing more than one task at a time. Did you have something else in mind?

Maybe you should say a little more about what your current WM (whatever that may be) is or isn't doing, and what you would like it to do.

Thanks for the reply..

Sorry for a bad explanation. I currently use an old version of fluxbox, and when i open a task, it fills the whole bar, and when i open a second, it does not split. I shall upgrade today, maybe it fixes then.

BTW. do someone have a good tips for removing a wm installed via tar.gz? I have many wm's installed on my system that I want to remove. The question is how.

If you have built and installed the packages from source you probably used a Makefile. Most Makefiles support a "target" (a function) called uninstall, just like they often have a target called install that installs the files necessary files to their correct locations. Now guess what the uninstall target does. :)

In other words, simply try typing make uninstall in the source directory for the package.

If you still have the source code around, you could try make uninstall.

For the future, if you are compiling from source you should use checkinstall . It replaces the make install step and creates a Slackware package you can then manage with the usual tools. It makes uninstalling stuff a breeze.

Now, i have downloaded and installed the latest fluxbox, but the taskbar still shows only one task at a time. I want it to split itself, like Cerbere explained. How can that be done?

Thanks in advance.

Are you using the development version, the 0.9 series (currently 0.9.9)? The splitting taskbar is not implemented in the current (old!) stable series.
