t-dsl (germay) what to do when i don t get option ppp over Ethernet in kernel config
 

the sub says everything!
i downloaded the kernel 2.4.16 but i dont get the option ppp over ethernet in the subdir network device support!
what have i done wrong?

I don't have that on mine.

I don't think you need it.


Just run adsl-setup to setup roaring penguin.

Then run adsl-start

can`t be right
 

sorry, but that cant be the right sulution!
ppp over ethernet is needed for adsl (i am sure!)

by the way: how is the weather at your location?

well I just looked at the machine that is connecting me to the internet and there is no pppoe in the subdir network device support.


As a matter of fact I don't have ppp built in either.


we just had a bad storm go through.




what error do you get when running adsl-setup and adsl-start.

the pppoe daemon uses pppd and ethernet

make sure you have a working ethernet card, support for packet sockets, and pppd 2.4

and get the latest version of rp-pppoe
