System-wide urxvt (rxvt-unicode) X-resource control

Hello there,

I'm a satisfied user of urxvtd and urxvtc since yesterday; however, there's ONE particular issue I'm unhappy about. I'm able to control urxvt's exported X-Resources via each user's ~/.Xdefaults - I'd rather have ONE system-wide config file, like I used to have with UXTerm (e. g., a resource-control file in /etc/X11/app-defaults/).

The problem occurs in Gentoo GNU/Linux (urxvt 7.1), as well as in Archlinux (urxvt 7.5).

Any ideas on how to tackle this?

Regards,
- colo

My slack system has a /etc/X11/xdm/Xresources file. Perhaps you could make each users .Xresources read only, chown it to root, and put your settings in the xdm one.

Don't know if it will work but worth a try

Lightbulb /etc/skel/

Edit your .Xdefaults with your neded options and then copy it to /etc/skel/.Xdefaults
This way every new user that you add get's the files in /etc/skel/ in his home, including .Xdefaults
I hope that makes the feeling of system-wide.
