System get's Hang after the certain time...

Hi,

I am working on AM1808 platform, and it is our customized board. Boot loader is placed at the 8MB SPI flash, and running our Kernel uImage & rootfs from SD-Card.

The Problem is suddenly while working our device it gets hang. at that time LCD becomes dark, and no console access via UART.

We couldn’t able to predict what is the issue why it gets hangs? For finding this issue, whether the processor & sdcard is running or not we tested with one small code which we have run RTC time script writing for every 10 secs on to the file format that have created at the sdcard

This program is running at the background. It is running and written as a file till no hangs.

When the system gets hang we waited for 15 minutes noted the hang time, then we get the rtc file in sdcard and checked it seems the rtc time written at the till hang time only. That means we confirmed that the processor is in idle and no OS is running & no App running from sdcard.

That’s why it becomes idle. I would like to know why suddenly my processor gets hangs. Any suggestions. This is not happening continuously, may it happen after 15 minutes or 1 hour or 5 hours, after the system start up.

The peripherals used in this product:-

AM1808 @456MHZ

TFT 18-Bit LCD with touch

8MB Flash

64MB mDDR

4GB SD-Card

GPS Module Uart based

Qwerty Keypad

USB 1.1

Battery Operated (7.4V, 2200mAh)

Can any one please give me suggestion how to sort out the issue.

Thanks,
Sreenivas

Does this happen without your own software loaded?

I would say try to figure out what's causing the hang. I've been debugging a similar device myself, and I've disabled all services and then progressively enabled them one by one to see what the culprit was. The first thing you should probably do is see whether the board locks up without any services running, as business_kid has already mentioned. If this is the case then your system must be unstable. I've had problems with certain kernel options while using a custom kernel for my board. The stock kernel worked fine.
