System Files Installed But Not

Ok I have read all the tutorials that I could have ever wanted to, at any rate I have this issue

checking for GLIB - version >= 2.4.0... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB is incorrectly installed.
configure: error: maybe you want the pygtk-2-2 branch?
mike@S01060020ed57a91d:~/Programs/pygtk-2.3.94>

even thought I have all the dependencies installed. This is rather a mess and frustrating if you can please help me out that woudld be great.
