Question Synaptic error: "sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)"

Hello. I just installed synaptic on Damn Small Linux hard drive installation. When I try installing apache I get the following error message:

Quote:
sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
Any idea on what this means? Thanks for the help.

Try installing it with apt-get from the command line. Error messages are usually quite descriptive.

It says that there are unmet dependencies.

depends: apache-common and perl

So I go to install apache-common and it depends on perl.

So I go to install perl and it says I need the perl-base.

So I go to install perl-base and I already have it installed......

Is there a way to automatically download the required dependencies?

That's exactly what apt-get is mean to do. Try doing a apt-get -f install.
