Synaptic and ./configure questions
OK, first off I'm a newbie to *nix so please talk to me as you would a 5 year old :). I've got 2 questions for ya, hopefully someone can shead a bit of light.
First I'm using a Knoppix HD install and any program that I try to run ./configre on, ends with this: Code:
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.3) (headers and libraries) not found. My second question which is unrelated to the first is reguarding synaptic. I have successfully installed one or two things with this, but when ever I try something with dependencies wierd stuff happens. Say for example I try to get Kdetoys. When I hit the proceed button, the pop-up says: Code:
158 packages were kept back and not upgraded Thanks anyone who can tell me what I'm doing wrong. |
1) You do not have the QT development headers installed, if you want to add them in then you will need to install the qt3-devel package

Thanks Chris,
I installed libq3-headers without any problems. I rebooted and ./configure still gives the same error (Qt (>= Qt 3.0.3) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!). Once I install the headers, do I have to initalize it or somehow start it up? I tried to install libqt3-dev, but when I hit the install button it puts the up arrow icon next to the selection for a second, then removes it. And I can't install it. I don't already have it installed. My problem is that I'm still unfamiliar with how linux handles files, programs etc. Once I install something with synaptic, I have no clue where it got installed. I guess it's time for some good old fashioned diggin around, see if I can figure some of this stuff out. Sammy |
