symlinks in / directory
I've got a lot of symlinks that were created in my / directory.
I suspect them to be from running *gdb* with Scribus, but
don't really know. Could this be some debugging output, and
is it safe to remove these links?
Code:

Should be safe to remove all links of this nature, I'd only recommend moving the actual lib files to /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib and then create the links there. You might be able to get away in attempting to move them all to /usr/lib without breaking the links, since they seem to all point to existing files in the same directory, etc.

Thanks, Drew. That confirms it for me, as this was the output I got earlier
Code:
root@james:/# locate libabout.so
/usr/local/lib/scribus/libs/libabout.so
/usr/local/lib/scribus/libs/libabout.so.0
/usr/local/lib/scribus/libs/libabout.so.0.0.0
/home/mingdao/cvs/Scribus/scribus/libabout/.libs/libabout.so
/home/mingdao/cvs/Scribus/scribus/libabout/.libs/libabout.so.0
/home/mingdao/cvs/Scribus/scribus/libabout/.libs/libabout.so.0.0.0
/libabout.so
/libabout.so.0
I suspected they were somehow created with I ran gdb with Scribus
to try and duplicate a crash. They're only Scribus libs it seems.
Is there a way to remove every one of these links from / at once?

Probably the easiest way since they all have "so" in their name is to just do a:
rm *so*
You wouldn't want to do a rm lib* since you most likely have a lib/ directory in your / directory..
Of if you really want to play it safe, instead of rm do a mv command and move them to maybe /tmp. Then remove them inside of tmp when you've confirmed it didn't move any needed files.

That did it alright. I followed your advice to mv them and tested
Scribus. It works okay. I'll rm them from /tmp. Thanks for your help!
