Interesting. What sort of hardware to you have? I've got at 933 MHz Crusoe with 230 MB RAM, and the Debian iceweasel binaries work quite well: not brilliantly snappy, but pretty good.
How is the compilation optimized? Why not apply those patches to the source deb of iceweasel and then you can always have the latest and be sure that that you won't have library problems. I am quite interested in this.

Really, I was under the impression that Chromium required more resources than firefox: I guess I'll have to check it out.
