Question Suse 9

Hi guys,

I am trying to install Suse 9 on my laptop using ftp mode. However, once I put the following boot option:

linux install=ftp://server/dir

it prompted me that:

Could not find kernel image initrd=initrd

I also tried to start with manual installation and configer the network setting afterwards. But when I selected "ftp" option and tried to give the ftp location, it told me that: no network device found, please load a network module first.

Actually, my laptop has a built-in LAN adapter, which connects to an ethernet port on my wireless base station. It works fine with my RH linux.

Could anybody help? Thanks.

:>

You'll need to load the network module before you can do an ftp load. I'd recommend you use the text install as it should give you a little less grief. Once the text install is loaded you can follow the menus to load (or probe for) your network driver.

I did the same thing. At the prompt type install=ftp://server/dir, (don't type linux install=ftp://server/dir).
