Suse 9.3 Installation troubles
 

Ok, when I do a media check it fails. I aborted, and I was brought to a meny with setting, system information, kernal modules, start installation, verify installation cd-rom/dvd. It passed this test, but when I went to try again it failed once more.

What have I done wrong with my cd?

Welcome to LQ! If your CD's aren't passing the media check, then it's possible that you did not burn them as ISO images. (Just copying the ISO to the CD as a regular data file won't work.) Assuming you are using something like Nero as your CD burning app, you 'll need to select the "burn ISO image" option. Until your disks all pass the media check, there's no real point in trying to proceed with the SuSE installation. Good luck with it.

One other consideration is that perhaps the downloaded ISO's were corrupted during the download; so it's also worthwhile checking the MD5SUM on the downloaded file before trying to burn it to CD. If the MD5SUM's don't match, the file is no good and you'll need to download it again. -- J.W.

I got it to work as an upgrade, but a clean install would not work. the checksum was way off, but it still worked as an upgrade. i dont know what happened, i burned them as iso i guess they just currupted or something. the same thing has happened with slackware and mandrake 10.1.
