suse 9.2, which program I use to dial phone ##?


Hi there

I/m running Suse 9.2 on a stand alone machine I have the AMD Atholon chip and is running good I will like to see if there is someone out there who can help me figure out how to dial a phone ## on my Kontact manager... is there and application that I can use to dial the ## thought the computer ???

try minicom

try mygetty

use kppp

either of the above

do u have the driver for your modem

what modem and waht chipset are u using

u can get this info by typing

#lspci

Hey thanks for your info, I m rather new to Linux and I tried to key all the comands you gave me and could not get any of them to work can you tell me how to locate and launch this aplications ?? please be specific ok as I dont really know how to work the comand line ok...

also I have a pci internal modem us robotics 56k v.92 it works in the windows partion but is not seen in the linux partion and yast does not see the modem..

u r using robotics chipset ...robotics is conexant modem only

step1.....
#uname -r
note the kernel version

step2---------

goto linmodems.org
download driver for your chipset your processor and your kernel...

look at the database carefully..........

step 3 --------
install it

step4
download kppp and install it

step5
#kppp

configure yourmodem........

and that is not all u will post more i know........
