Suse 9.2 Audio Driver and Video Driver Woes
Hi,
I am using an Intel d915pbl motherboard with 3.4ghz 512ddr2, 80 gig Seagate drive, with Suse 9.2 installed.
In addition to the sound problems i am having having problems getting the latest and greatest ati driver installed. I need the latest driver installed because i need to get 3d acceleration installed and that the current driver says that 3d acceleration isnt allowed, so i tired downloading the x org driver.
I have an ATI X600 pci express video card, and i cant seem to get the driver installed correctly, even though it is a stright forward process. It uses and rpm which is easy enough, or i thought!
Everytime i think its installed correctly i reboot, and when i get back in, the GUI doesnt load, nor can i get it to load.
So i end up installing Suse everytime which after the 3rd time is a little frustrating! Any and all help is appreciated since i am new.
Here is my sound problem also, with the command lines or whatever you call them, i am not the only one having this problem, and it seems to be a rather large problem with any user of the d9## series chipsets by intel since it has the intel HD audio. I have seen someone else with my exact error and still no response and that was from anther forum.
If i knew how to install ALSA i would.
Any help is appreciated as I am getting quite frustrated at the moment, just like everytime i ever try to use linux. Speaking of which i first tried mandrake 8.0 and i had to wait 2 years for support for my old computers sound card to be found. I was happy, but then my hard drive crashed so now i have a new one but anyways.
Here is the stuff from the 1.5beta intel audio driver.
