suse 9.1 pro yast2 rpm updates

Hello All

Newbie question and I apologize if I missed another thread with the answer.

I have SuSE 9.1 pro. After installation, I successfully ran the YaST Online Update (YOU) to get the most recent patches etc.

Now I am trying to install updated rpm files from the {mirror}/pub/suse/i386/update/9.1/rpm/i586 directory and I cannot seem to do that.

I tried the "Change Source of Installation" feature with no luck - it insists on pointing to the main distro location - that is /pub/suse/i386/9.1/

When I use "Install and Remove Software" it shows that I am running 2.6.5-7.108 but only shows the 2.6.4-52 as available - also highlighted in red to show my version is more recent.

I would like to add the kernel source but can't seem to get the correct source this way.

do I have to manually download the rpm files I would like to add and then use rpm to install or is there a way to do this with YaST?

Thanks!

Brandon

i'm not in fromnt of mine, so i can't see it, but i think that if you scroll to the right of your installed kernel in Yast, there should be a box you can checkmark for installing source.

..may be wrong, but its worth a shot.

myk,

thanks!

what I didn't realize is that after reboot, it may take a few more iterations of "Online Update" to get things completely updated.

I found this out when I went to look for the source box.

thanks again
