SuSe 8.2 Keeps Crashing

Hi Gang,

While I am very happy to use Linux my version of SuSE 8.2 keeps crashing on me every time I try to redo my desktop or even view my adress book this morningit crashed. What I love is that unlike Vendoz$$$ you don't have to reboot. But what I hate is that I have no idea how to stop it.
I am KDE 3.2 which in the past has been reliable, in fact I have had more sucess with it than Gnome which always crashed burned me hard.

Is their maybe a patch for KDE 3.2 or maybe a very simple way to repair it with out redoing the whole OS?

Thanks for the help

OK, lets take it from the top.

What kind of crashes are you getting? Is it just your desktop/window manager that's crashing you back to the console or are you getting hard-locked?

Thanks for your quick response.
No Hard lock just, closes whatever I am doing and then comes up saying whatever you were trying to do KDE just crashed... you might send a report ot he developer..
But never a hard lock.
It just like it cancles anything I try to do in certain things.

Oh... the crash window. Have you patched or upgraded anyhing in the kde environment outside of the upgrades offered by YaST?

I Have downloaded all the patches from SuSE using Yast.
I have tried to install something of a P2P program but was not successful, beside this started before I did that anyway.
I also installes Sylpheed for email which works perfect.

That is my histry so far.....
Real tiny icons on desktop and clors that are hard on the eys with ligth blue background.

It's a set of graphics libraries. Some software requires newer or bleeding edge qtlibs. Perhaps one of the packages you installed recently changed your ldlibrarypath environment variable.
