SuSE 7.3 with SMC PCI Card

I have a dual-boot computer with Windows XP/Linux connected using a SMC2602 wireless PCI card to a separate machine attached to my cable modem and a wireless router.

I have downloaded a recent copy of the wlan-ng .tar file (version 0.1.12) and have been able to follow the basic instructions only so far. The instructions say to load a line that says to modprobe prism2_pci--there does not appear to be any such file on my system.

Can someone walk me through this? I am a relative newcomer to linux but would really like to get this to work. Any and all help is appreciated.

Well, for me it seems that prism2_pci is a file you should get with the driver (or it should be in the package you've downloaded).
The exact filename wil be prism2_pci.so *.o or *.o.gz file

Mara,

Thanks for your help. I did look and there was no such file. WIth a lot of reading I discovered there is a problem with SuSE Linux that prevented me from running a few of my "Make" steps correctly.

Once I "fixed" Linux, I was able to create the file you referred to.
Even though this isn't working fully yet, I appreciate your help.
