SuSE 10.0 Mp3+video playback problem..
 

hi

i have tried all things..still not able to run mp3 or video..i even installed all dependencies also..so

please if anyone can help me install and run mp3 and video playback on my pc ..it will be nice of you ..

i have xmms,xine,Kaffenine ...

please give me detail description of how to patch or how to make mp3 and videos run on my SuSE 10.0

and plzz give links of the rpms or any patches and how to do it too.

Open YaST (the package installation program) and search for 'mad' The libmad or something like that is needed for mp3 playback. Do note that depending on your local legislation mp3 playback without a license may be considered illegal.

Video playback is a tad more difficult. The SuSE multimedia packages have been mutilated not to playback any common formats (for the same reason as I mentioned for mp3) so you'll be easiest off searching for a 3rd party package of mplayer or xine and installing that. Guru's RPM should have those. They have a great pkg repository btw. (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/pnews.php)
