SUSE 10.0 iPod mini using Amarok
Hello forum users,
This is my first request for help as I've been able to find answers to my other problems with Linux. Maybe my problem is that there's so much help out there I try too many solutions! Here's the specifics: I want to use Amarok (I LOVE AMAROK!) to transfer music to my iPod mini. I've created a mount folder (mnt/ipod) and added "/dev/sda2 /mnt/ipod vfat defaults,uid=500,gid=500,user,noauto 0 0" to my fstab file. Doing a fdisk -l shows Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 5 40131 0 Empty /dev/sda2 * 6 497 3951990 b W95 FAT32 So everything should work right? However, Amarok cannot connect to my iPod. It shows an error 'Could not find device, please mount it and try again.' I did completely reformat my iPod on a Windows computer. I just want to get my tunes on there again. Can anybody help me? Thank you, arkiebrian |
hey there. I'm using suse 10 as well, i dont see why you needed to do all those modifications '/mnt/ipod' and what not. It could be because I upgraded my kde to 3.5 but it recognises that i've plugged in an ipod and auto mounts it to /media/ipod. Does it automount yours?
Also, amarok will connect to the pod and browse it but its file transfer is dodge (freezing and crashing and what not..) aparently the latest CVS version has it but it's not too stable so you're better off waiting for amarok 1.4 [ i upgraded my amarok to 1.3.7 bt it's still a problem. btw, i'm talking from an ipod nano point of view.. |
All right. Looks like I need to wait for the newer Amarok to get music on my iPod? Transferring is the problem.
